Questions About Referrals

I don't know if I should get a referral from my dentist, do I need one? Joan.

Hi Joan. We will help everyone, whether they come to us directly or via a referral. Some patients self-refer as they are in pain, or already know they need implants, so if they are not currently under the care of a dentist, they might bypass that process.

For those that wish to refer themselves, please download and complete this referral form.

Why would I bring my referral if it's not necessary? Graeme.

Hi Graeme. The reason some dentists or other health professionals provide referrals is they can give us some of your dental history and let us know why they feel you need to see us. Please bring it with you, Graeme, because we’d like to keep in touch with your dentist regarding what happens treatment-wise. We co-manage patients with many dentists, and working together brings ideal and predictable outcomes.

Questions About the First Visit

I am seeing Derrick next week. What can I expect on my first visit? Lucas.

Your first visit to our practice always begins with a consultation. During this appointment we get to know you and collect data to help make decisions. This consultative process may take more than one visit if there is complexity involved. At the end of your consultation, you can walk away with an understanding and diagnosis of the problem, as well as treatment options. See you next week, Lucas.

Which location shall I come to make sure I see Dr Derrick Lee? Cheers, Lawrie.

Hi Lawrie. All our patients see Derrick. He makes himself available on Wednesdays from rooms in Kalamunda, simply to give patients that find Wembley difficult to get to. This gives patients better access to our practice and specialist care. From chatting to you on the phone, it sounds like Wembley is closer for you.

Questions About Travel

I'll be coming from Bunbury. It's a hassle to travel. How can we make this easier? Justin.

Hi Justin. For patients like you who have difficulty travelling, we are able to provide treatment on the same day or the next day. In these cases, Derrick can do a phone consultation to guide you through a plan. Of course, a phone consultation is not a substitute for a physical consultation and examination as naturally the info we have is limited. We will still need to consult with you to provide accurate advice and to cover off legal issues. Give us a call and we can take it from there!

I am often away for work, and at short notice. I don't think a treatment plan will work out. Lila.

Hi Lila. For patients who have heavy travel schedules, we can structure your plan to minimise appointment times. This may mean fewer but longer appointments. Our receptionist will run some times past you and see what works. Thanks for checking!

Questions About Fees and Payments

My dentist has recommended for implants. How long does this all take and what am I up for? Barry.

Hi Barry. From your consultation, we lay out treatment options and help you formulate a plan of treatment. This plan guides us to help you make appointments. Your plan may take a few appointments or multiple appointments to achieve the required objectives. Don’t worry – you will know all costs before you agree to anything.

Why can't you just give me a quote and item number over the phone? Geoff.

Hi Geoff. Management fees can only be presented and discussed after a treatment option has been selected. Unlike some procedures in general dentistry, treatment for periodontal disease is not a once off single procedure with a fee attached and therefore, it is difficult to provide estimates for comparison without a consultation.

We maintain transparency surrounding fees and health fund rebates and therefore will discuss with you all financial arrangements prior to commencing treatment. This will happen at your first visit or consultation, or at a subsequent visit or treatment discussion appointment. We hope to address your concerns and offer payment plans if they are suitable for your situation.
